On Wednesday, October 16th, 2019, Carl Groff Baker, Jr. peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born December 6th, 1963 in Somerset, PA to Carl and Mary Ellen (Schrader) Baker. He graduated from Somerset Area High School and moved to Northern Michigan. He married Angela Cox on December 3rd, 1984 and they raised two children, Brent and Kori.

Carl spent his entire career in the oilfield industry with over 30 years with Double Check Services while also running his own crane and oilfield service company, Top of the Line Crane Service.

Carl loved his family and could be seen regularly at his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. He also loved his alpaca and many dogs, especially his German Shepherd Summer. Over the years he enjoyed snowmobiling, going to the beach, doing home improvements and fishing to name a few. He was a member of the FOE #383 and annually volunteered at Acme Fall Festival.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Angela, children, Brent Baker (Amanda) and Kori Baker; grandchildren, Bailee, Zoey, Cameron, Alexis, Ellie, William, Erica, Madison, Tyler, Emma, Nicholas, Riley and Fyn; sister, Traci Baker; mother-in-law, Darlene Cox; daughters-in-law, Courtney Boyer (Bud) and Kate Baker; special nephew, Alex Challender and cousins.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Robert Cox.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, University of Michigan Cancer Center or Miracles from Heaven Alpaca Farm (LOL).
