Cookie McCullough, 78, of Beverly Hills, Florida and formerly of Northern Michigan died January 29, 2024. She was born on August 29, 1945 in Detroit the daughter of John and Genevieve (Wenderski) Styrna. She graduated from Walled Lake Central High School.

On October 7, 1967 she married Richard B. McCullough in Detroit. They moved to Traverse City in 1978.

Cookie was a very well known Northern Michigan Realtor for over 26 years. Many will remember her as the “This Cookie never crumbles.” She also previously worked for the Traverse City Area Public Schools for over 18 years as the Secretary for the Head of the Reading Department.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for over 40 years and then Immaculate Conception Catholic Church before moving to Florida. Cookie was active with the Grand Traverse Hockey Association when her sons were younger. She held the position of Secretary for a number of years for the Hockey Association.

Cookie's favorite sport was water skiing. She also enjoyed running, cycling and had a great love for animals. She was never without a furry companion. She loved the holidays; Thanksgiving and particularly Christmas was her favorite.

Cookie and Richard lived in Florida for a short time and were in the transition to move back to their beloved home in Northern Michigan.

Cookie is survived by her husband, Richard B. McCullough; son, Matthew McCullough; brothers, Vincent (Colleen) Styrna and Raymond (Sue) Styrna; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Tom) Collins, Michaela (Dale) Collins, Reilly Collins, Andrea (Brad) Hagelstein, Elizabeth Hagelstein, John Hagelstein and Luke Haglestein and many more nieces and nephews she dearly loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Genevieve and son, Jeffrey McCullough who died in 1996.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grand Traverse Hockey Association to honor her son, Jeffrey McCullough or to AC Paws for Pet adoption.

A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Fr., Anthony Citro as Celebrant. The family will greet friends starting at 10:00 am. A luncheon will follow. A Private burial will be held at Monroe Center Cemetery, Blair Twp, Traverse City in the future.
