Daniel "Danno" Emery Muir, 80, of Traverse City, died Monday, April 25, 2022. Born on April 21, 1942, in Monroe,MI, he was the son of Emery Robert and Kathryn Olive (Singer) Muir.

Danno graduated from Trenton High School in 1961. He met Sylvia Hamp in October 1973 and they were married on October 12, 1974 in Traverse City.

He was a Respiratory Therapist at Munson Medical Center, retiring in 2003.

Danno was a 32nd Degree Mason with the East Bay Masonic Lodge 264 FA&M, in Acme. He was a member of the Grand Traverse Metís, a historical reenactment group; a Charter Member of the National WWII Museum in New Orleans; and a life member the Michigan Antique Arms Collectors. A lifetime historical re-enactor, he participated in the Civil War Centennial in the summer of 1965. Danno was also a volunteer with the Maritime Heritage Alliance.

He enjoyed restoring antique arms, building reproductions, and was an avid gun collector. He loved to cook Cajun and Creole food, and New Orleans was his favorite place to visit. A world traveler, he loved talking about his African photo safari, where he visited Kenya, crossed the equator, and traveled to Tanzania to see Mt. Kilimanjaro. Despite his travels around the world, his favorite place to spend time was the porch at the family Cabin in the Upper Peninsula.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Sylvia Muir; children, Matthew (Stacie) Muir of Wyoming, Michigan, Sarah (Kelly) Crosse of Indianapolis and Rachel (Jeffrey) Kunnath of Ada; grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew, Hope, McKenna, Mason, Samuel, Peter, Ellery and Jasper.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carma Farlow; brother, Myron Muir; and his beloved dog, Cletus.

A informal gathering will be held from 1pm to 3pm, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Life Story Funeral Home. A Masonic Service and celebration of life will start at 3pm.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Salt Lake City or locally to the Father Fred Foundation, Traverse City.
