Eleanor Orton

Eleanor Shirley Orton, 84 of Traverse City, went Home to Glory on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

She was born in Fife Lake Township on September 26, 1933 the daughter of Albert John and Lillian Mae (Rice) Klaus.

Ellie supported her husband Cleo throughout his 28 year military career and became a military spouse assisting with many military functions.

Eleanor retired from the Pathology Lab at Munson Medical Center after 33 years.

Her family was the center of her life. Shopping, Traveling, Camping, Bingo, Crafts, Casino and Dancing with her family brought her much joy. She also loved bowling with her friends and was Team Captain. She loved the song, “I Can Only Imagine.”

Eleanor is survived by her children, Valerie Morey, Judy (Steve) McDonald, Cheryl (Joe) Burleson, Peggy (Keith) Bushy, Jeffrey (Chris) Orton, Barry (LuAnne) Orton and Michael Orton; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lillian; step-father, Kenneth LaBar; husband, Cleo D. Orton, they were married on April 17, 1954 in Clare; son-in-law, Mike Morey and brother, Kenneth LaBar.

The family would like to thank the Grand Traverse Pavilions Staff and other caregivers who loved and helped care for Mama. Also thank you to the Munson Hospice for their kindness, care and comfort of words.
