NORTHPORT- Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Gray, 91 of Bay City, Michigan passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family at the Northport Highlands on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Betty was born on February 11, 1928 in Summit Township in Jackson County, the daughter of Walter and Anne (Lumsden) Waite.

Betty grew up in the Vandercook Lake area in Ingham County near Stockbridge. She graduated from Ingham Twp. High School in Dansville. She later graduated Hurley Nursing School as a RN in 1951.

Om May 17, 1952, she married the love of her life and soul mate, Charles Roy Gray Jr. They had three children, Charles III, Carol and Cathy. Betty and Chuck raised their family in Bay City, Michigan living on the Saginaw Bay.

Elizabeth spent most of her career working as a Registered Nurse at the Bay Medical Care Facility in Essexville, Michigan. After retirement she and Chuck moved to Bellaire, Michigan. They later moved to Lake Ann to be closer to their daughter Carol. Betty and Chuck loved to travel to the UP and spend a couple of weeks each year in Grand Marais.

Betty was an avid gardener, spending many hours on her flowers. She filled the garden with plants and flowers and many times forgot what she planted, which was a great surprise the following year to see what came up. She was a card player, loved her cat and enjoyed spending time with her family. Betty also enjoyed Music in the Park in Northport for the music and people watching. She was a devote Christian and attended West Side Community Church.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol (John) Lesperance of Maple City and son, Charles (Joanne) Gray III of Spring Lake.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Roy Gray Jr.; daughter, Cathy Ann Gray and siblings, MaryLou Milton and Jim Libey.

Private burial will take place for Betty and Chuck at the Floral Gardens Cemetery, Bay City, Michigan.
