CADILLAC — Elizabeth (Beth) Janet Mellin of Cadillac passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 at Munson Hospice House due to complications from cancer.

Beth was born on April 29, 1939 in Wyandotte, Michigan, to the late Cecil and Anna (McMurdo) Mellin. Beth received a teaching degree from MichiganState University. Returning to college many years later, in 1990, she received her Master's Degree in Social Work. She worked as a social worker for Lutheran Child and Family Services in Grand Rapids. Beth was actively involved with the Knitter's Group that would meet at the bookstore and make newborn hats, prayer blankets and anything else that was needed to be donated to the hospitals or nursing homes. She loved passing the time reading, watching sports, spending time on a Sunday afternoon at Apple Valley Health Food Store talking to her friend, Kris and spending time with her loved ones. She also enjoyed caring for her cats, Bunks and Petey.

She is survived by her son, Edward John-Dron (Sheryl) Tillitsonof Fife Lake; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Cecil Mellin of Cleveland, Ohio, William (Mary Ellen) Mellin of Ridgeway, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Emily Tiffany and Fran Merkin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Decima Lowry and Mary Blohm; a sister-in-law, Gretchen Mellin; and brother, Thomas Mellin.

A memorial service will take place in the spring.
