Elizabeth Nelson

Elizabeth Anne Nelson, 84, of Traverse City, died December 3, 2020 died peacefully and unexpectedly at Meadow Brook Care Facility, Bellaire. She was born on July9, 1936 in Leelanau Township, Leelanau County the daughter of John Otto Anges Elizabeth (Thomas) Raymond. She was raised in Northport and resided in Traverse City since 1965.

She married the father of her children and former husband, Julius A. Nelson on May 2, 1953.

Elizabeth was employed at Burwood Products and then retired from Munson Medical Center in Housekeeping after 10 years.

Flower gardening was a passion of hers for many years. Neighbors, Friends, even people she didn't know would stop by and she would walk them thru her gardens. She enjoyed having family celebrations and gatherings. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling for many years to the Ann Arbor Art Fairs and other Art Fairs collecting pottery and paintings. While raising her family she enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, traveling with family & friends.

Elizabeth was a loving mother and will be deeply missed by her children, James Nelson, Michael Nelson, Richard (Mary) Nelson and Michelle (Dave) Nelson; grandchildren, Sarah (Shawn) Johnston and Katelyn (Cody) Scott; great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Benito, Lilah Vasquez and Colton and Juniper Scott; brother, Alfred Raymond, nieces and nephews from Grand Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Anges Raymond' daughter-in- law, Dianne Kessler-Edwards and sister-in-law, Shirley Raymond

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park, Traverse City.
