Floyd William Thayer, 84 of Interlochen, died Thursday, January 30, 2020.

He was born January 5, 1936 in Traverse City the son of Everett and Elizabeth (Boals) Thayer.

Floyd joined the Air Force and later the Army. He retired from the Military after more than 20 years.

He enjoyed camping, fishing while living in Alaska and cross county skiing.

Floyd is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Ronald) Simone of South Boardman and his son, Billy Thayer of Interlochen; grandchildren, Shane Simone and Heather (Ben) Hanna and great-grandchildren, Lilly and Iris Hanna and siblings, Sharon Reed, Helen Humphrey, Betty Firman, Mary Lou (Don) Kellogg, Donald Thayer and Mike Thayer.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Richard and Ronald Thayer.
