Harold Albert Monroe, 95, of Traverse City, died December 25, 2021 at home with his children by his side. Harold was born on February 19, 1926 in Traverse City to Ralph West and Ruth Ann (Merchant) Monroe.

Harold proudly served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific on board LST 395 and was a Life Member of the VFW Cherryland Post #2780.

He retired from Traverse City Light and Power after 35 years, as a Lineman. Harold’s passions were a good game of Euchre or Cribbage, Westerns and Fishing.

Harold is survived by his children, Connie (Mike) Johnson of Traverse City, Dennis “Buck” (Lisa) Monroe of Traverse City, Daniel (Teresa) Monroe of Fife Lake and Rod Monroe of Whittier, California; stepchildren, Greg Potvin, Dennis (Mary) Potvin, Mark (Sheryl) Potvin, Norman (Shelley) Potvin, Wendy Potvin and Marcia (John) Vickers; 29 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces , nephews, family and friends

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bonnie Monroe, step-father, Charles Rokos and brother, Ralph Monroe and step-daughter-in-law, Margaret Potvin.

Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that’s the way I’ll remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all.
