James L. Foster, age 85, died Saturday at Medilodge of Suttons Bay of lung failure. He was born October 12th, 1933 to Leonard and Elizabeth Foster in Detroit Michigan.

James was a Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He loved sports, especially hockey, where his favorite team was the Detroit Red Wings. He also loved to read and has a large collection of Mysteries and Western books. He worked at UPS as a delivery Specialist for 20 years, as well as a Maintenance Technician at Disney World in Florida for a few years before returning to Northern Michigan.

On March 19, 1955 he married Elaine Ann Schmidt who passed away February, 2015. He was a loving and caring father who is survived by six children: Cheryl Foster, Sharon DeBruyne and her husband Kevin, Laurie Cooney and her husband Tim, James Bley and his wife Connie, Brenda Nimeth, Martin Foster and his wife Ator. He also leaves behind 18 grand-children and 18 great grand-children.

He lived the past four wonderful years at Cordia in Traverse City where he enjoyed reading his books on the front porch, attending concerts in the park, singing in the Choir, attending movies in the Theatre and spending time with friends and staff. A special thank you to Karen Anderson and the staff at Cordia for providing a better quality of life and looking after my father over the past four years.
