Joanne Stowe

Mom was born on April 2nd, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, to David and Christine (McIver-Sullivan) Hunter. She was the eldest of six children; Helen, Mary, Margaret, Carol, and David.

Mom graduated from Southeastern High School in January 1951. She spent a few more years in Detroit before coming to Traverse City with her friend, Marilyn.

Mom met Dad, Edward Stowe in Traverse City where they were married in Cadillac Michigan on February 7th, 1959. Dad's U.S. Navy deployment and his time onboard the car ferries out of Ludington Michigan had just ended. Mom and Dad missed their 59th Anniversary by seven days when Dad passed away on January 31st, 2018.

Mom was employed at Burwood's Manufacturing. She would also work for Essex/United Technologies for 18 years where she retired and after taking a year off, she worked for another 13 years as a cashier for Ric's in Interlochen, Michigan.

Mom was an avid bowler for many years and really loved the game. She also was the President of the VFW 2780 Ladies Auxiliary during the duration that Dad was the Commander, early 1980's. Mom loved going to the casinos and also watching game shows on TV, with her son, Thomas on a nightly basis for her last few years.

Surviving Joanne are her sons, Mike Stowe, Tom Stowe, Tim (Sue) Stowe and Bob (Gina) Stowe; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jonathan) Ferguson, Megan (Trevor) Wuerfel, Brandon (Adrienne), Stowe Patrick (Brianna) Stowe, Brandi Pringle, Tonja (John) Stowe, Christopher Diehlman, Joey Swearingen, Jacob Stowe, Derek Doty, Bradley Doty, Cody Stowe; great-grandchildren, Jonavann and Jami Ferguson, Xander Wuerfel, Lilly Stowe, Peyton Berger, Logan, Brennan, and Rylen Bielski and Dom and Ellie Doty; siblings, Margaret Penny, Carol (Gerald) Chamberlain and David (Penny) Hunter; many nieces; nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws.

Preceding Mom back home was husband, Edward; parents, Christine and David Hunter and sisters, Helen and Mary
