John Giddis

John W. Giddis

Nov. 21, 1948 to April 11, 2025

Born in Detroit, Michigan 76 years ago to John W. and Helen E. (Shotwell) Giddis. The family moved to Traverse City when John was a child.

John attended Traverse City Central High School. After high school John drove a delivery van for Thirlby Automotive, later becoming an over the road truck driver. John drove for several different companies and hauled several types of freight over the years, eventually becoming an owner/ operator and working with TJ’s Trucking out of Cadillac, Mi and retiring in 2009 when his health became to bad to drive .

In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and bossing people around. He spent most of his retirement relaxing, watching TV and doing word searches.

John is survived by his children, Laurie Giddis of Kingsley and John Giddis 3rd. Grandchildren Darlyn Stegmeyer, David King, Josie Brigham, Andrew Gatzke and Jade Giddis. Great Grandchildren Dalton, Konan, Kaine, Brigh, Maddaline, David, Addison and two new arrivals this summer. His best trucking buddy Stacey Curtis of Montana, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry.

Cremation has taken place per his wishes there will be no services.
