John Godisak

John Frank Godisak, age 65, of Traverse City, MI passed away April 16, 2012. He leaves behind his wife, Linda (Lyn) Godisak; two daughters and a son, Natasha (Jeff) Vander Velde, grandchildren, Roman, EJ and Madeline Vander Velde of Belmont, MI, Jonathan (Tina) Godisak, grandchild, Brooklyn Godisak of Rico, CO, Mandi Phillips, grandchildren, Austin and Kaylee Phillips of Wyoming, MI Also one stepdaughter and two stepsons. Tonya Gebben, grandchild Taylor of Grand Rapids, MI, Toby (Jill) Gebben, grandchildren, Ella and Audrey Gebben of Grand Rapids, MI, Travis Steiner of Grand Rapids, MI

John was preceded in death by parents Dr. John Jay and DeEtta Elizabeth Godisak

Also left behind, loving Mother in Law, Zola Graves, John’s sister, Christine (Dick) Terpstra of Allendale, MI, two brothers, Michael (Dawn) Godisak of Conklin, MI, Patrick (Jackie) Godisak, Plus many nieces and nephews.

In Traverse City, MI, John had a second family at Cherry Hill Nest that loved and nurtured him until the end. The Nest and Hospice of Michigan allowed John to finish his journey with love and dignity.

John graduated with a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan in 1976 after serving his country in the Vietnam War. John developed the radiology technology department at Grand Rapids Community College. He was the program director and taught there for 35 years until his retirement in 2007.

John's family will remember him privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan. 900 E. Front St. Ste150, Traverse City, Michigan 49686.
