John Charles Nagy

Traverse City

John was born at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Illinois to Joseph and Margaret Elizabeth (Tompkins) Nagy. He grew up in Traverse City, Michigan and worked as a life guard at Clinch Park as a teenager.

After graduating high-school at Central High School, he attended college and in 1973 and was offered a job as an accountant for Chuck Cox. John was a smart man. He jumped at the opportunity and eventually became controller for H. Cox & Sons where he put in 40 years upon retirement in 2013.

He was a loving man who cared for his mother and four children and made certain they were always taken care of. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and would always look forward to their visits. He enjoyed watching old westerns on television and listening to The Beatles.

John is survived by his children, Jason, Joseph, Daniel, Jessica and John as well as his grandchildren, James, Sierra, Samantha, Payton, Montana, Madelyn and Julia; his brother, Michael (Kathy) and sister, Patricia.

He was preceded in death by his mother Betty and father Joe, brothers Butch and Jimmy.

The family is having a private service, memorial contributions aren't necessary.
