Joseph Steffes

Joseph Otto Steffes, native of Old Mission and Traverse City, passed away on December 22, 2022 at the age of 80.

He was born to Otto and Lois (Lardie) Steffes on February 11, 1942, one of four children.

Joseph graduated in 1960 from Traverse City Central High School.

He was a plant manager at Gleason & Co Fruit Processing and Big Jon Inc. He was also a bus driver at Blue Lakes By The Bay.

Joseph was active in hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling.

He married Jean Witkop Brown on August 13, 1983.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Michael (Pam) Steffes, Patrick (Vonda) Steffes, Michelle Smith, Tamela (Terry) Grozenski, and Ann Pritchard; his grandchildren, Matthew and Marissa Smith, David and Alex Steffes, Thomas Pawell, Joseph (Daniela) Pritchard, Adam Pritchard, and Emily and Jacob Grozenski; and 3 great-granddaughters and brother, Thomas (Debra) Steffes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lois Steffes; his brother James Steffes; and his sister, Dayle Steffes.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Parkinson’s Network North, PO Box 5734 Traverse City, Michigan 49696. A local 501( c )(3) organization for education and support of Parkinson’s patients and families.

A public informal visitation will take place from 3pm to 4pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Life Story Funeral Home.
