Marc Thompson

Marc Kenneth Thompson, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on March 21, 1962, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Marc was the son of Aline Desrochers and Willard Thompson.

Marc enlisted in the Army in 1982 then joined the National Guard. He worked as a multi-channel communications operator until his honorable discharge in 1988. He worked as a Quality Technician at Tower Automotive. Later, he worked in Retail Sales at Home Depot, where his strong work ethic, kindness, and sense of humor earned him the respect and friendship of many colleagues and community members, as well as many service awards. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in business from Ferris State University. He and his family were very proud of this accomplishment.

Marc married the love of his life, Andrea Thompson, on August 3, 2013, in Traverse City, Michigan. Together they built a warm and joyful life filled with laughter, love, and shared adventures. They enjoyed traveling to many places across the world, including Ireland, Scotland, St. John’s, New Zealand, Bora Bora, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy, and France. One of his proudest moments was hiking Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona. Marc and Andrea happily retired in 2022 to enjoy their lake house, where they kayaked, boated, fished, and observed all the wildlife on the lake.

Marc cherished his role as a stepfather to his three stepdaughters. He took joy in supporting them at their sporting events, cheering proudly from the sidelines and celebrating every accomplishment. Marc valued their time together, whether traveling together on family adventures or spending time at home. His kindness, encouragement, and unwavering love made him a constant source of strength, calmness, and happiness in their lives.

Marc will be remembered for his love of travel and golf, and for the many beloved moments he shared with family and friends. His warmth, calmness, and easygoing spirit touched everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Andrea; three stepdaughters, Alexandra, Erika, and Jessie; brother, Joseph Thompson; and sister, Lorrie Kenney. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aline Desrochers and Willard Thompson.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, November 2nd at Life Story Funeral Home at 400 West Hammond Road, Traverse City, Michigan. Family members will greet guests starting at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, in his memory. Marc’s life was defined by love, laughter, and genuine care for others. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
