Margaret A. ‘Peg” Hatch

Margaret (Peg) Hatch, 90, passed away peacefully the morning of July 27, 2021 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City, MI.

Peg was born on Nov 15, 1930 in Jackson, MI to Thomas and Irene (Disenroth) Goodacre. She graduated from Jackson High School and attended Wheaton College before marrying Hugh (Bud) Hatch on Jan 12, 1951 in Jackson, MI. They had five children and enjoyed camping in the Upper Peninsula, Canada and taking several family ski trips to Colorado.

Peg worked alongside Bud as owners of Hatch Pharmacy in Elk Rapids until getting her real estate license and working for over 30 years in real estate sales and rental properties. She was active for many years with both the Elk Rapids Downtown Development Authority and the Beautification Committee.

Peg is survived by her children; Steven (Jean Babcock) Hatch, Kathryn (Dan Williams) Hatch, Lorraine Hatch Banwell, Lee Anne (Tim) Hopper, and Thomas Hatch; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Edward (Elke) Hatch. Peg was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 67 years.

Family and friends remember Peg as an amazing lady, a great mother, grandmother and someone who would drop everything to entertain family and friends at her home on Elk Lake. Peg was a fabulous cook and enjoyed golfing, knitting, jewelry making and reading. She was an avid walker and even completed the Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk at the age of 88. Over the past few years, she enjoyed traveling to Citrus Hills, FL with close friend, Gordon Converse, where she continued to entertain and to meet new friends.

Cremation has taken place and Peg will be interred at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elk Rapids, MI with a Celebration of Life to be held at the Edward C. Grace Memorial Harbor on Aug 28, 2021 from 3-5pm. Please join us in celebrating Peg’s life.
