Margaret (Maggie) Ann Maten passed away on September 19, 2017, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 85.

Mrs. Maten was born on August 28, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, John and Mary Brown.

Margaret worked at State Farm downstate for a number of years before moving to Williamsburg. Up-north, she was employed as a secretary for Super Tool and enjoyed working at the Hitchpoint Cider Mill on weekends. She always looked forward to the summer family reunions which were hosted at her house. Margaret was an avid reader, liked to crochet and loved boating on Lake Michigan with her late husband, Steven Maten.

Mrs. Maten is preceded in death by her loving husband, who she was married to for 67 years, Steven Maten Jr. and her son, Robert James Maten.

Mrs. Maten is survived by her son, Michael (Carol), her daughter, Beth Anne (James) Davis, her son, John (Joan), her son, Steven (Therese), and her daughter, Susan (the late Joseph) Bertrand, her sister, Irene Roan and her brother in law, Gerald Maten. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for both Margaret and Steve will be held at a date to be determined. Please visit www.lifestorytc.com to sign the guest book and share your thoughts and memories with the family. The family chose Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City.
