Marion was born in West Warwick Rhode Island on January 27th, 1929, to Jose De Carvalho Luz and Maria Freitas Luz.

Marion grew up in West Warwick attending West Warwick Senior High School and graduating in 1947, under her photo in the senior yearbook she was described as “Always being dressed for the occasion”, which was true about Marion her whole life.

She moved to Traverse City where she met and married her husband, William Robert Hoxie, in 1965. together they lived in Michigan, Rhode Island, Colorado, and Florida. No matter where Marion lived, she always worked in retail. She truly had an eye for fashion and could piece together the perfect ensemble for any client. She was most proud of her many years spent dressing the ladies of Traverse City at Miliken’s department store.

When her husband passed away in 2007 Marion moved back to Traverse City to spend her golden years close to her family.

Marion enjoyed shopping and dressing up, her clothes, hair, and make-up were always impeccable. She also loved to volunteer for her church and socialize with her many girlfriends at the Elk’s Club. Marion was quite the people person and always made friends wherever she went. She was truly an icon in Traverse City and will be missed by many.

She is survived by two sons Jonathan David Rossi and Christopher Paul (Alexis) Hoxie; grandchildren Alecia Hoxie and Scott and Catalina Dillon, and great-granddaughters, Eleina Jane and Parker Willow.
