Mary Guy

Mary Elizabeth Guy, age 79 of Springfield Twp., Fife Lake, died April 1, 2022 at French Manor Yorkshire.

Mary was born August 20, 1942 in Evanston, IL the olny child and daughter of Frederic and Ruth (Parker) Kaan. Mary completed her master’s degree.

She taught in the Kalkaska Public Schools, was principal of Fife Lake Elementary and ran the GED program in Kalkaska.

In the 70’s, she was married to Thomas Dale Guy who preceded her in death. In her younger years, she loved to race sail boats and was keen shot, medaling in shooting sports. Mary’s greatest joys were her pets and animals. She bred Labrador retrievers and had sled and running dogs at her kennel in Fife Lake. Mary was instrumental in creating and building Michigan sled dog races such as the UP 200 and was involved in the Great Lakes Sled Dog Association. She was attended the Kiwanis club in Kalkaska.

Cremation has taken place and no public services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Travers Humane Society.
