Matthew Scott Heminger, 41 of Traverse City, died, Monday, June 26, 2017.

Matt was born on December 22, 1975 in Traverse City the son of Robert Edward and Nancy Smith (Mills) Heminger.

He graduated from TC Central High School in 1995. At the age of 13 years he starting working at the Ice Cream Shop in the Cherryland Mall. He continued being a server with Red Lobster and transferred to the Lansing location. He moved back and worked with La Seniorita and Schelde's Restaurants. He worked at Schelde's for over 25 years until he moved to be the Lead Server at McGee's 72 in Williamsburg.

Matt loved his garden, vacuuming the house and his Persian Cats. He loved Pizza Hut; his macaroni and cheese, pizza and Miller Lite. He was a very responsible and caring son while taking care of his father's finances when he went into assisted living. Matt was a special person and loved by others.

Matt is survived by his mother, Nancy (Gary) Walters; father, Robert Heminger; several aunts, uncles and cousins; Persian Cats, Winston, Bear and Simba; close friends, Dennis Frick and Jeanne Morrell; co-workers and many, many friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Munson Medical Center and U of M Medical Center. A special thank you to Glen Harrington and John McGee for the Memorial Service.

The family's preference is contributions to the Cherryland Humane Society; Matt loved his cats and other animals.
