Michael Shaun Smith, 34, of Traverse City, Loving son, father, and brother died November 9, 2022. He was born October 12, 1988, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the son of Edward and Lynn (Heckerthorne) Smith.

Michael formerly lived in Wyoming before moving to Michigan. He worked as a contractor for Action Construction, which he owned.

He enjoyed camping as well as all other outdoor activities. Michael loved working with animals as well as spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing GTA on XBOX with his son Brentyn, and they were always very competitive.

Michael is survived by his sons, Brentyn, Ryker, and Adrian Smith; his father and step-mother, Edward and Tina Smith; his mother, Lynn Smith; brothers, Charles Smith, Ronald “Andrew” (Sara) Smith, and Kevin Prager; his sister, Amanda (Eric) Long; his grandmother, Winona Walczyk (Gus); his grandfather, Allen Heckerthorne (Mary); and numerous special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Smith, grandmother, Jean Smith, and aunts, Michelle Smith, and Kelly Johnson.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Cherryland Humane Society.
