Richard A. Holtom left his earthly life behind on December 15, 2021 at Munson Medical Center. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on March 10, 1941 to Albert and Mildred (Joy) Holtom.

After graduating from Waterford Township High School, he was employed by Waterford Township doing (mostly) outdoor maintenance of township properties; a position he retained until his retirement.

After retirement, he moved up north to be near his brother, Don, and to relish the beauty of the Traverse City area. Richard led a quiet life. He enjoyed viewing the night skies through his telescope, and he was talented in art, although he rarely showed his work to anyone.

He enjoyed canine companionship, having several dogs throughout his life.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Holtom.

Surviving him are his brothers, Donald (Nancy) Holtom, James Holtom; nieces, Avery Holtom, Tracy Smith, Toni Hettinga and Linda Ziner; nephews, Harrison Holtom and David Holtom; cousins, Sue Caraffino and Pam Holtom, and his beloved dog, Josie.

Per Richard’s request, there will be no memorial service.

To honor his memory, please do a kindness for someone who is elderly or lonely. The family would like to thank the nurses at Munson who provided comfort care during his final days.
