Roland Munck

Roland Edward Munck Jr. of Traverse City passed away at his home on March 12, 2022. He was born on May 3, 1956 in Detroit, MI to Roland Edward Sr. and Joann (L’Esperance) Munck.

Roland was a US Navy Veteran, serving from 1975-1980. He served aboard the USS Canisteo from 1975-1978 and still enjoyed attending his annual reunions with his shipmates.

Roland was a long time resident of Traverse City and loved living on the water. He lived a simple life, and was generous with what he had. His favorite things were playing his guitar, and traveling to visit his family and friends; especially spending time spoiling his grandkids.

He was predeceased by his parents; his grandson, Ronan McNamara, and his niece, Michelle Klaus.

He is survived by his children, Rebecca Waite (Derek) and Brendan McNamara (Sara); his grandchildren, Everett McNamara, Luna Waite, and Enzo Waite; his siblings, Jean Ryan (Shawn), Susan Klaus, Gary (Barbara) Munck, Robert Munck, Kathy Wilhoft, Thomas Munck, and Steve Erker.

A memorial service is planned for 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Twin Lakes Park Pavilion, 6800 N Long Lake Rd. Traverse City, MI 49685.
