Tyler John Briggs

Died March 3, 2023

Tyler John Briggs, 39, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2023. Tyler was born in Traverse City on November 21, 1984. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Briggs and his brother Christian Briggs. His father, John Briggs, passed away in 2015.

Tyler was a graduate of St. Francis High School. While at St. Francis, he was in the percussion section of the band for four years. He also earned 5 athletic letters. He enjoyed teaching sailing on Boardman Lake for TACS and was very loved by his students.

He graduated from U of M with a double major in Philosophy and Linguistics. He then went to teach English in Korea for one year and then in China for three years. There he developed a passion for the Chinese Language as well as a mean forehand in Ping Pong!

Upon his return to the United States, Tyler moved to Columbus Ohio where he earned his Medical Technician degree. He worked in labs and hospitals in Columbus and later around the country as a temporary Lab Tech.

Tyler had a lifetime passion for music and playing the piano. He never passed by a piano without playing and bringing joy to anyone within earshot. The residents of his grandmother's nursing home were overjoyed when Tyler spontaneously sat down at the piano and entertained them. His mother remembers when she returned from studying in Costa Rica to be enthralled by a memorized rendition of Clair de Lune. Tyler loved classical music, particularly Bach and Mozart.

Tyler was a kind, loving, caring, engaging man. He loved good conversations and had a great sense of humor. He is sorely missed. Please share a memory or message. It will be greatly appreciated.
