Vickey Stites

Vickey Jo Stites, 66, of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, December 9th, 2025. She was born on February 18th, 1959 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She is the daughter of Lymon Clifford Burdett and Shirley Joan (McEnteer) Burdett.

Vickey graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. Shortly after graduation she moved to Traverse City, Michigan. In 1984 she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Stites and married.

She was an owner of an in-home daycare and later worked at Munson Medical Center, Children educational services till she retired in April of 2025.

Vickey was an avid sewer and quilter. She enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, and most recently found enjoyment in adding water features and new fish to her aquarium.

Vickey is survived by her son, Jeremiah Burdett; sisters, Theresa (Darrel) Richards and Jodi Crawford; stepson, Patrick Stites; step-daughter-in-law, Darla Stites; sister-in-law, Kathy Burdett; sister-in-law, Marg (Stites) Halstead and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Shirley Burdett; husband, Bob Stites; brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Burdett; sister, Sandra Nealy and stepson, Scott Stites.

A Private burial has taken place and now she is next to her beloved husband, Bob, at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

Vickey loved animals, contributions may be made to the Cherryland Humane Society.
