Life Story / Obituary
Walter Herbert Ogburn, 71, of Traverse City, died peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019. He was born on July 7, 1947 in Grosse Pointe, the son of the Harold Pete and the late Margaret (Semmer) Davis and Harry R. Davis. He married the love of his life, Anne Renee Arbour, on October 15, 1991 and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2019. They made the Traverse City area their home for over 40 years. Walt was the eldest of four siblings, surviving are Thomas Ogburn, Betsy (Jimmy) Zontini, and Brian (Chris) Davis; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and special friends, Dawn and Billy Halberstadt and their children and grandchildren.
Walt was a Marine and participated in many operations during the Vietnam Conflict. After returning from the war, Walt had many
successful careers. He sold wood stoves, was a cosmetologist and owned Hair Force One. He was a Chef at the Embers, Mabel’s, Dill’s and the Cottage Cafe. Walt was an Ordained Minister. He was a professional Drummer for many years playing with many different bands in the area.
Walk enjoyed Golf, Stain Glass, Music, Hot Rods and Classic Cars and anything Beatles. He participated in the AA West End celebrating over 40 years of sobriety.
Funeral services will be held 1pm to 4pm Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Walt and Anne’s Paradise at 4600 N. Indian Lake Rd., Traverse City. The service will start at 3pm. Please visit www.lifestorytc.com to sign the guestbook and share your thoughts with the family.
