Wanda Elaine Shifferd, 100, of Williamsburg died Sunday, December 11, 2022. She was born August 25, 1922, in Lafayette Township in Gratiot County to the late Charles and Adelaide (Rolixman) Brown.

Wanda married her husband James R. Shifferd on August 29, 1942, in Alma. She graduated from Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti. She held jobs at General Motors in Detroit, AAA in Ypsilanti, and the Michigan Unemployment Office in Ypsilanti before becoming a homemaker and raising her children.

She was a member of the Child Study Club and 40 Diners Club in Ypsilanti. Wanda also was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church as well as being on the Handicap Rights Task Force. She also loved reading, playing cards, solving sudoku puzzles, and also enjoyed spending many wonderful winters in Florida with her husband Jim.

Wanda is survived by her son, Richard (Jan) Shifferd; her sister, Charlotte (Gerald) Jenkins; her sister-in-law, Jane Brown; her daughter-in-law, Joan Shifferd; 7 grandsons; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Shifferd; her sons, John C. Shiffered, Terry L. Shifferd, and Philip Shifferd; her brothers, Stewart Brown, Bill Brown, Jerry Brown, Ralph Brown and Jim Brown; her sisters, Roseline (Brown) Mercado and Glennie (Brown) Haase; and sister-in-law, Ruth Brown.
