William Bills

William Jay Bills, 76, of Torch Lake, Alden, died Thursday, January 25, 2024.

Bill was born on March 12, 1947, in Edmore, Michigan, to Merlon Jay and Marion Helen (Foster) Bills. Bill graduated from Edmore High School, and pursued further education at Ferris Institute.

Bill married Judith Marshall and had two sons, Kelley and Mike.

Bill was the Co-owner of the Mt. Pleasant Sports Center. He moved to Traverse City and was the Parts Manager for Bay Motors and then moved to Torch Lake and worked at Dewitt Marine where he retired.

He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, boating, and loved the water on Torch Lake, especially the Torch Lake Sand Bar. He participated in golf and indoor pool leagues. Bill loved his dogs, his Harleys, apple pie and spending time in his garage.

Bill is survived by his sons, Kelley (Sarah) Bills and Mike (Christine) Bills both of Traverse City; grandchildren, Alicia, Taylor, Michael Jr., Austin, Avery, and Jared; great-granddaughter, Elsie May; siblings, Susan Corteggiano and Sonya (McNeil) Render; nieces, Denise, Michelle, Christi, and Marcie; nephew, Dan; and great-nephews, Ben and Cam.

He cherished his loyal dog, Ricky. Memorial Contributions may be made to your local Humane Society.

The Gift of Life to help others was very important to Bill. He was designated as an Honorary Organ Donor.

An informal visitation will be held 5 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Life Story Funeral Home. A Celebration of life will follow at the Rapid City Tavern. Burial will be in the Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore.
