William Vaughn Teter, 90, of Traverse City, died, Thursday, May 27, 2021.

He was born on January 7, 1931 in Buckhannon, West Virginia the son of Lyman Alva and Evelyn Louise Zickefoose.

Bill retired from the Traverse Heights Elementary Schools as a custodian. He attended New Hope Community Church.

He loved to go watch the great-grandchildren’s baseball, basketball, volleyball and hockey games.

Bill is survived by his children, Denise Y. Broderick of Traverse City and William M. (Leonie) Teter of Texas; 6 grandchildren; Thomas (Dana) Broderick, Natasha (Chris) Brown, William (Francis) Teter Jr., Nicholas (Amber) Teter, Matt (Heather) Defer and Tyler Defer and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Brock, and Reece Broderick, Imani and Ian Brown, Evonia and Titan Teter and Autumn and Hazel Defer and Anicya and Elias Teter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn Teter; they were married on June 3, 1950 in Dearborn; daughter, Deborah Defer and sister, Betty Karercher.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Traverse City Christian School.

Family and friends are invited to an informal visitation anytime between 11:15 am to 12:30 pm, Friday, June 4, 2021 at Life Story Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 1pm at Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City. Per new executive orders, masks are required if you have not been fully vaccinated.
