Wilma Barrett

Wilma Barrett, 75, passed away on November 26, 2021, surrounded by her family. Wilma was born August 14, 1946 in Traverse City, Michigan to the late Charles and Mary Thomas. Wilma graduated from Traverse City High School in 1965.

Wilma was married to Daniel Barrett on May 13, 1967. They were married for 54 years. They raised 4 children together and fostered at least 100 children over 20 years.

Wilma loved cooking, baking, going to the movies, spending time with family and friends, laughing and always wearing a smile. She was a loving, caring, devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Mary (Widrig) Thomas, and her two brothers, Gary Thomas and Roger Thomas.

Wilma is survived by her husband, Dan, 4 children, Richard (Jan) Barrett, Mary (Marc) Barnhart, Greg (Laura) Barrett, Douglas (Cassie) Barrett and foster daughter Susan Coppiellie, Brother Richard (Diane) Thomas, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life luncheon will be held on December 4th at Woodcreek Community Lodge in Traverse City from 12:00-2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Child and Family Services.
