Alan Dale Perkins, aged 78, died at home in Traverse City on March 13, 2022. Al was born in Littleton New Hampshire on November 21, 1943, to Clifford and Dorothy Perkins. Al is survived by his wife Jeanne, of 52 years, and children Eric (Charity) of Richmond, VA, and Michelle Mitchell (Lars) of Kingsley, MI, his grandchildren Zachary, Alexander, Alaina, Ian and Liam and his faithful lab, Lexi. He was pre-deceased by his parents and sister and brother-in-law Pat and Leston Crane.

Al was a perfectionist and entrepreneur throughout his life including sales and marketing for 3M company, as the owner of Classic Business Products in Lansing, and owner/innkeeper of Brierley Hill B & B in Lexington, Virginia. His favorite business was Perkins Leather Shop which spanned his life from high school to retirement. Al was an amazing father and a loving partner in marriage. He was a fun, goofy, grandfather who loved nothing more than to hear his grandchildren laugh and to make them his special chocolate, peanut butter milkshakes. We will forever miss his presence in our life, but he will always live in our hearts.

The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Kohler and Dr. Ward Gillette for their excellent and compassionate care. We also want to thank Al’s hospice nurse, Karen. She was our source of comfort and strength through the last two months.

Al asked us to “throw a party not a funeral”. To honor his wishes please join us at Ranch Rudolf (6841 Brown Bridge Road, Traverse City) for a casual lunch and to celebrate his life on Saturday, March 19, at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers If you wish to make an expression of sympathy the family requests donations to the Father Fred Foundation/Food Pantry, 826 Hastings St., Traverse City, MI 49686.
