Alice was carried to Heaven by the angels Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020.

Alice was born the 2nd of 7 children on July 10, 1931 in Traverse City, Michigan. Her parents were Kenneth F. Smith and Francis A. (Stanhope) Smith.

Alice graduated from Traverse City Central High School. She attended Northwestern Michigan college and the nursing school in Petoskey. Her nursing career began in Muskegon, Michigan.

She married Deo E. O'Brien in November of 1954 and they were together until his death in 2004.

They had 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Alice's life was centered around her Lord and her family. She was involved in planting 2 different churches and in the building of 4 churches. Many lives have been influenced by her Christ like love.

She is survived by her brother, Earl Smith of Fife Lake; sisters, Karen (Robert) Meyer of Anchorage Alaska and sister, Carol Charley of Greenwood Indiana; children, Debra (Calvin) Johnson, DeAnn (Wayne) Motz, Denette Kerby, Marianne (Brian) Haven and Timothy (Debbie) O'Brien; her grandchildren; great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Ludy O’Brien.

She is proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and Ronald; sister Beverly (Phil) Lown; her daughter, Denise and granddaughter, Jay Lynn.

Memorial Contributions may be made in memory to Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Buckley. Funeral Services will be held 1pm, Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Traverse City Church of Nazarene, Division and 14th St. The family will greet friends starting at 12 noon. Burial will be in the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
