Amil Strang Sr.

Amil Lee Strang Sr., 81 of Thompsonsville, formerly of Buckley, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He was born on February 7, 1936 in Traverse City the son of Frank and Lucy Nevada (Davis) Strang.

As a young man Amil worked as a mechanic at the Standard Station in Traverse City. He then went to TBA Career Tech Center in Traverse City, where he worked for approximately 25 yrs until he retired. He couldn’t sit still for long because he then worked a short time at Interlochen Arts Academy and LEAR.

Amil was an Official Member of the Service Technicians Club. He was a Certified Mechanic for brakes and motor tune ups.

Amil loved his family very much and was always happy to be around all of them. He had a special bond with his chickens which he loved to talk about. He always loved to work on puzzles and enjoyed all sorts of working.

Amil is survived by his children: Tammy D. Weese, Amil L (Sheri) Strang Jr., Michelle R (Alan) Michels, Micheal S (Dorene) Strang, Ricky D (Freda) Poling, Jeffrey A (Jenni) Poling, and Nora J (John) Walters; his brother Donald (Mary) Strang; his sisters: Joyce Maidens, Janet Baerlocher, Marion Maddasion and Dorothy Weiler; his grandchildren and their spouses: Amanda R. Weese, Michelle (Darrell) Maddix, Laurie Norman, Sarah Scott, Cory Mikowski,Brandon Mikowski, Nicole (Brandon) Bokmiller, Joseph (Morgen) Michels, Kurtis (Krystle) Strang, Heather (Jordan) Skaggs, Danica (Chart) Davis, Chiersten Poling, Kevin Poling, Kenny Poling, John Walters III, Matthew Walters and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Amil was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lucy (Davis) Strang; his 1st wife Barbara J (Snyder) (Strang) Webster; his 2nd wife Ellen E. (Peters) (Poling) Strang; sisters, Opal Turner, Edith Strang, Florence Burton, Leona Strang, Donna Evans; Brothers: Frank Strang, Glen Strang and Joseph Strang and a grand-daughter Kristina Walters.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 am, September 23, 2017 at Buckley Tabernacle Church, Buckley with Pastor John Williams officiating.. Burial will take place at 10 am, Monday September 25, 2107 at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, Traverse City.
