Life Story / Obituary

Brianne Elizabeth Lyons was born on May 8,1983 in Saint Joseph, Michigan to Matthew and Paula (Schmaltz) Lyons.

She grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, graduating from Traverse City Christian School in 2001.

She dearly loved her siblings; Timothy and Grace Lyons. Brianne's interests included art, theatre (drama) and photography. She also loved horses and cats, especially her cat Baby.

Brianne had a very special heart for both children and missions. She served her Lord and Savior actively by serving in Ireland and Romania with Youth With A Mission. Currently she was serving a two year commitment in Rustenburg, South Africa. She was working in an orphanage with YWAM helping with teen outreach programs.

Brianne is survived by her father, Matthew Lyons of Traverse City; her brother, Timothy Lyons with the Air Force stationed in Japan; her sister, Grace Lyons of Traverse City; grandmothers: Lois Schmaltz of Watervliet and Mary Lyons of Northport, aunts and uncles: David Schmaltz of Colorado, Mike and Debbie Lyons of Davisburg, Steve and Phyllis Lyons of Colorado, Dave and Julie Lyons of Colorado, Mandy Lyons ReBone of Traverse City, Becky and Kent Holton of Northport, cousins: Emma Lyons, Rea Lyons, Branden Finnila and Andrew ReBone.

Brianne was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Allen Schmaltz and Dr.Robert Lyons.

Brianne was taken from us in a tragic automobile accident along with her mother, Paula on October 19, 2012. We will greatly miss her humor, her joy for life, her passion and devotion to missions and her love for her Savior.

Brianne, our joys will be greater, our love will be deeper and our lives will be fuller because we shared your bright and shining moment

A memorial service for Brianne and her mother, Paula will be held at New Hope Community Church on Monday, October 29,2012 at 3pm.
