Bruce Semon

Bruce Michael Semon 68, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2019. Bruce was born May 7th, 1951 to Bill G. and Phyllis M. (Grimes) Semon. He was raised in Homer, Michigan where he grew up surrounded by close family members and countless friends. Bruce spent his childhood summers with his family on Rennie Lake where he made lifelong friends who were with him until the day he passed. Bruce had a passion for music and was an avid musician playing drums in several bands for many years. He later found solace in listening to music during periods of recuperation. Bruce was a “Jack of all trades” holding many different types of jobs from owning a jewelry store to becoming a Respiratory Therapist, which he found the most rewarding. Most recently he worked at Grand Traverse Community (Osteopathic) Hospital until its closing. He never forgot the friends he made while working there. He had many hobbies, loved to tinker, and could fix most anything. The highlight of his life was the birth of his only child, a beautiful daughter whom he loved ferociously, cherished, and was proud of every day. He strived to be part of every milestone of her life, although there are still many to come, he was able to attend her college graduation which made him very proud. In 2014 he received the ultimate gift of life through the form of a Heart Transplant which he was grateful for every day. He was proceeded in death by his parents; oldest sister Marilyn, in-laws; Jim and Ginny Kalchik, several aunts and uncles and friends. He is survived by his daughter Chelsea Marie. Semon, best friend; Sindy A. Semon, brother; Brent W. Semon, sister; Gail D. Flegel, Sindy’s family, in-laws; (The Kalchik’s), cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and many great friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Oakley, Dr. Clayton, and the staff at Medilodge of Traverse City for the amazing care and love they showed him.
