Carol Hamel

Carol Kathryn Hamel (West) of Traverse City, Michigan, born on January 16th, 1944, passed away on Sunday, January 12th, 2025, just 4 days before we could celebrate her 81st birthday.

She married Joseph Glenn Hamel on March 9th, 1963, and had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Joe passed away in the fall of 2023.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Hamel, Marie (Mark) Frimodig and Beverly Hamel, and six wonderful grandchildren, Kristian (Lindsey), Kendall, Logan (Kasey), Allison (Chris), Sheldon and Carson.

In addition, she is survived by her sister, Sharon Smith of Howell, Michigan; Brothers, Art (Sandy)West of Cheboygan, Michigan and Florida, and Larry (Pat) West of Manchester, Michigan.

Special thanks to our Aunt Sharon for her love and tender care during Carol’s illness.

As well as being her partner in “Crime” (Casino Hopping), she was ever present in her life.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan for their compassion, and support.

Without that critical care, it would have been a much more difficult journey for her and her family.

Cremation has taken place, and her family will have a private memorial at a later date.

We will all miss our beloved “Nana”, but we know in our hearts, she has found peace with her soul mate Joe at last.
