TRAVERSE CITY — Carolyn Marie (Zoulek) McMahon, 74, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday morning July 8, 2022, unexpectedly from an unfortunate accident.

Born August 12, 1947, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of late William (Bill) and Victoria (Rumbach) Zoulek.

Carolyn attended Traverse City Central High School. She was hired part-time her senior year at Michigan Rehabilitative Service through the Coop Program. Proving to be such an asset they hired her full time, which she dedicated over fifty years of hard work. Through those years she developed several wonderful friendships. When she retired her dear friend and coworker Judy King retired the same day. Carolyn would tell everyone on their last day, Judy and she walked out hand and hand.

Carolyn enjoyed reading, shopping, playing cards, but mostly loved two tracking to mushroom pick or find a nice spot on the river to take the dogs, with her love of her life Leon McMahon. She also loved spending time with her cousin Kathy Mikula down in Florida or floating in Kathy’s pool. Kathy was not only her cousin she was her best friend and more like a sister. Carolyn was a giving, loving, caring mother and would go to the moon and back for her daughter Tracie McMahon. Carolyn hey loved spending time spoiling their very special granddaughter, Haley Rae. Carolyn called Haley an Angel sent from Heaven to her.

Carolyn will be fondly remembered by her bright smile, her selfless giving nature, and as a fun-loving person.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Leon McMahon; her daughter, Tracie McMahon; step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Jesse Jefferson; and her great-granddaughter, Haley Rae Matthews; also her very special great uncles, Jim (Kay) Rumbach and Tom (Connie) Rumbach; her cousin and best friend, Kathy (Frank) Mikula; her beautiful calico cat, Lacie Jane; along with brother and sister-in laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; friends, and a very close community

of neighbors that were just like family.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Vicky (Rumbach) Zoulek; her brother, Tomas Zoulek; and her aunt, Ida Thompson.

A celebration of life for family and friends will take place at the VFW Cherryland Post #2780, 3400 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, MI, 49684 on Saturday, September 10th, from 1-4pm: serving a light luncheon.

Cremation has taken place, and no Burial will be held.
