Catherine "Katie" Elaine (Bryan) Morio died in her sleep January 14, 2022 at the age of 91 in Stuart, Florida

She was born August 9, 1930 in Flint to Margaret and William "Mac" Bryan. The family moved to Lake Ann in 1946, where her grandmother lived and her mother had previously taught school. Katie graduated from St. Francis High School in 1949.

Katie married her handsome Army man, Lawrence "Larry" Morio, Nov. 11, 1950 at the old St. Francis Church on 10th Street. They resided in Traverse City for over 50 years together. Later Katie moved to Florida to be near her daughter due to health issues.

Katie and Larry raised 4 children who attended public school, Immaculate Conception School and St. Francis School. Her daughters live in Florida and California. Joseph sadly passed away February 2020.

Katie and Larry enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, California and Florida. They would visit their daughters during the Michigan cold winters. They loved their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandpa Larry would always bake cookies, pies and bread for them.

Katie and Larry enjoyed playing at the local casinos. They enjoyed walks to the mall. They enjoyed house party’s with all their relatives from Lake Ann and Suttons Bay.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Mac; husband, Lawrence Morio who died in 2001; stepmother, Elise; siblings, James, Marie, Chuck, Patricia and Larry and step-siblings, Grace, Bill and Elmer. Her son Joseph William Morio died February 2020, after a long illness.

Katie is survived by her brother, Louis R. Bryan of Clio; daughters, Margaret (Barney) Stricker, of Florida; Christine Morio (Bob Sutterfield), Rita (Thomas) Kazcmarek, of California; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bryan of Lake Ann; grandchildren, Melissa (Perry) Cartwright, Jason Stricker (Adriana LaSanta and Milana Kaczmarek; great-grandchildren, Emma and Abigail Cartwright. There are numerous nieces and nephews living in Lake Ann and Suttons Bay area.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Church on Saturday June 25th at 11 A.M. The family will greet friends at 10 A.M. After Mass a luncheon will follow there at St. Francis followed by a burial ceremony at St. Michael's Cemetery in Suttons Bay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
