Charles John Stuart 05/25/1966 – 01/08/2024

Lake Ann, Michigan

Charles John Stuart passed away peacefully in his home on Monday morning, January 8th, 2024, after a long battle with Acromegaly and short battle with a sudden illness. He is now whole and at peace. He entered the eternal home of our Lord and Savior with his wife and close friend by his side.

Chuck was born in Saginaw, MI on May 25, 1966, to Rose Mary (Town) Stuart and John Robert Stuart. He moved to Benzie County in 2001 where he married Carmela (Boesnecker) Stuart on Oct. 4, 2003, in Beulah. It was a memorable celebration of their marriage with friends and family at Crystal Mountain Resort that family and friends still reminisce about.

Chuck graduated from Vassar High School and attended Delta College. He enjoyed his beautiful route and customers on Old Mission Peninsula as a rural route carrier for the United States Postal Service.

Chuck’s friends gave him many nicknames like Charlie, Chazman, Chuckles, Tuna and Gumpy. He liked every one of his nicknames. He was good at sharing jokes with his friends; his quick-odd wit and humor was part of his charm. Music was always a passion. He played drums in High School and he would listen to his favorite bands The Doors and Iggy Pop over and over, but he also had a wide range and large collection of many genres. Chuck was a fabulous cook, enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, deer hunting in Gladwin and rock hunting on the beaches of Lake Michigan. He had a caring love of all God’s creatures and always took his beloved dogs with him wherever he went. He was an overall kind gentleman.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carmela (Boesnecker) Stuart; his parents, father: John Stuart and life partner, Shirley Pendergrass; mother, Rose Mary (Town) Stuart and step-father, Phil Mix; 2 brothers, Brent Stuart and Jason (Alison) Stuart; 2 brothers-in-law, Keith and Kenneth Boesnecker; 2 sisters-in-law, Candice (Amir) Fayaz and Constance Johnson; 4 nephews, Caden and Sander Stuart, Stuart (Alexandrea) Aldrich and Eric (Megan) Johnson; 1 niece, Trisha (Tommy) Aldrich-Lane; 1 aunt, Joanne (Daniel) Keaton; 3 uncles: Robert Town, Michael Town and David Town, 2 great nephews, Benjamin and Lincoln Aldrich; 1 great niece, Everly Johnson; best man and long-time friend, John Hoornstra and many cousins & friends.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents: Owen and Avis (Specht) Town, Donald and Marie (Swarthout) Stuart and, his Uncle Leo Stuart, his parents-in-law: Harry and Rosalie Boesnecker and 1 Niece: Jillian Boesnecker.

Chuck’s wish was to go to the beach one more time. Therefore, a memorial and celebration of life for family, friends, and co-workers to be held on Elberta Beach in Elberta Michigan. Dates and times to be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, please send or bring memorial donations in Chuck’s name for the Benzie County Humane Society or the Acromegaly Community to be donated at https://acromegalycommunity.org/.
