Life Story / Obituary
Cherese Le Mieux, 47, of Traverse City, MI, passed away on September 15, 2026, leaving behind a circle of family and friends who loved her deeply and will always miss her.
Cherese was compassionate, funny, and smart, with a way of making everyone around her feel welcome and heard. She had big hair and an even bigger smile. Her hugs were the best, and she never held back in telling people how much she loved them.
Cherese’s life was not without struggle. She battled severe alcoholism, a devastating disease that ultimately took her life. Her family has chosen to speak openly about her alcoholism because they believe addiction should not be hidden in shame or silence. It was a disease she struggled with, but it did not define who she was.
Cherese had an incredible capacity to bring light into the lives of others. Her struggles did not erase her goodness, and the way her life ended does not diminish the joy she brought into this world. Her life was so much more than her struggle. She was deeply loved; she gave love freely, and the impact she had on the people around her will continue long after she is gone.
Cherese was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her father, Martin (Dianne) Le Mieux; brothers, Eric (Alison) Le Mieux and Lucas Le Mieux; nephews, Brendan and Parker Le Mieux; niece, Emma Turnquist; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Sharron (Gordon) Le Mieux; maternal grandparents, Gail and Alma Gordon; paternal grandparents, Irvin and Therese Le Mieux; and Lexi Piluras, whom she loved as if she were her own.
A celebration of Cherese’s life will be held from 3 pm to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Pine Hall, 1776 High Lake Rd. Please dress comfortably, come as you are and all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider reaching out to someone who may be struggling with addiction. Sometimes a little love, compassion, and connection can mean more than we could ever know. Set an intention each day to be the healthiest version of yourself: mind, body, and spirit.
