Christy French, age 66, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2021 in the presence of loved ones. After courageously facing a cancer diagnosis, she was able to see the birth of her youngest grandson and celebrate life with her family and friends.

Christy was born on June 28, 1955 in Traverse City, the daughter of Robert French and Rita (Pahl); she was surrounded by siblings and extended family. Christy also had many wonderful friends whom she loved dearly. She tended her friendships like her gardens and cared for them as such. Whether she was cooking a meal, baking, cleaning, painting, gardening, visiting—whatever was needed—she helped. She worked in and out of the home throughout her life, but her truest work was caring for others.

Christy is survived by her children, Chèrie Spaulding and her husband, Chad Weber and Chad Spaulding and his wife, Sarah; her grandchildren, Lincoln, Lyla, Lochlan Spaulding and Owen Weber; her siblings and their children, Sally and Steve Nagy, Tom and Peggy French, Nancy Michels, Steve and Linda French, Holly and Jeff Carlson and Joni and Marco Marcantoni; her aunts, Thelma Weber, Carolyn Priest and Florance Pahl. She was step-mother to Josh, David, Justin and Jacob Courtad and dearly loved by their families.

Christy was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Roger Michels.

A celebration of life will be announced in the Summer 2022. A private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Hannah Cemetery.
