Clarence V. Smith, age 82, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at French Manor, a caring and loving memory care facility here in Traverse City. He was born and raised in Alden, Michigan - residing in Traverse City for the past 50 years.

On February 25, 1956, he married Fay L. Dickinson from Clare, Michigan. They were married for 55 Years when Fay passed away in May, 2011 at the age of 73. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Esther (Packer) and Helen (Lewis), his mother, Hazel and step-father, Charlie Dickson.

Clarence was retired from the rail road, then keeping busy by working for the county's local parks and serving on the East Bay Township Board. After retiring, he and Fay also volunteered for the probate courts and Munson Hospital. They were long time members of a local antique car club and enjoyed traveling and showing their antique cars (winning many ribbons). He was also an avid fisherman and looked forward to deer camp every year with his cousin, Pete Smith.

He is survived by his two children, Tanya Smith and Douglas Smith, grandson, Brandon Lindsey, great grandaughter, Lilly-Marie Lindsey and his two remaining siblings, Wava (Donkers) and Harry Dickson. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. A private memorial service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
