Life Story / Obituary
Cynthia Sue 'Cindy' Alpers 64 of Traverse City died peacefully with her daughter by her side on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
She was born on March 12, 1949 in Traverse City the daughter of Carl Edwin and Charlotte Lucille Alpers.
Cynthia graduated from Traverse City High School in 1967. She was a back up cook at the Cracker Barrel under her illness two years ago. She formerly worked with Prange's Department Store, the halfway house at the Traverse City Country Club and was the manager with Milliken's Tea Room.
She enjoyed flowers and her yard work while working at the Empire Townhouse. She loved being a mom and caring for her grandchildren; they were her life.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Heather (Andrew) Grubb of Lake Ann; grandchildren, Austin, Alexis and Abigail Grubb; siblings, Bonnie (Robert)
Anderson of Traverse City, C. William (Jeanne) Alpers of Lakeland, Florida and Mari Lyn (Loren) Gallivan of Aurora, Illinois and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Charlotte; siblings, Barbara Ann Lamon and Richard Allen Alpers.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Harbor Light Christian Center, Traverse City; the family will greet friends one hour prior
