Daniel Barrett

Daniel Charles Barrett, 75, of Grawn died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 3, 1948 in Charlevoix and was born to his parents, Richard William and Florence Eleanor (Corey) Barrett.

Daniel graduated from Traverse City High School in 1966.

He was an attendant at the Traverse City State Hospital for over 23 years, retiring in 1989 when the state hospital closed. He then retired from the Distribution Department at Munson Medical Center after 10 years of service.

Daniel and Wilma raised 4 children and over 100 foster children over 30 years.

He also raised Deer for over 30 years and loved to hunt and fish locally and out West. Daniel liked Playing Cards with friends and going to the Casino.

Daniel is survived by his 4 children, Richard (Jan) Barrett, Mary (Marc) Barnhart, Greg (Laura) Barrett, Douglas (Cassie) Barrett; foster daughter, Susan (Rick) Antonich; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Wilma of 54 years; they were married on May 13, 1967.

A celebration of life luncheon will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Woodcreek Community Lodge in Traverse City from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bayside Wellness Hospice.
