Daniel Lekenta

Daniel Robert Lekenta, 66, of Traverse City, passed away at Munson Medical Center Friday, March 19, 2021.

He was born on December 7, 1954, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Robert Bernard Lekenta and Joan Ann (Lewis) Lekenta. Daniel graduated from Rogers High school in Wyoming Michigan the class of 1974.

He married Janet Barteld on September 27, 1997 in West Berlin Michigan.

Daniel worked at Steelcase in Grand Rapids Michigan for 25 years making office furniture and retired in 1998.

He had a love for forestry, hunting, fishing, Bow hunting especially was his favorite. He was a big enthusiast of the outdoors, sports, huge CUBS fan, MSU, Lions and Red Wings. Daniel enjoyed going up to the family cabin on weekends in Marilla Hills by Tippy Dam in Manistee County.

Daniel was a member of City Church, he loved God, he had a real heart for Jesus, and love for our country.

Daniel is survived by his wife Janet; his sister, Linda Lekenta-Marzean; and 34 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Joan (Lewis) Lekenta; and sister, Nancy Timmer.

A celebration of his life will be held 1pm, Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the City Church, 1985 N. Keystone Rd. The family will greet friends starting at noon.
