Darrell David Miller, age 71, passed away following a courageous battle with Huntington’s disease. Born on July 28, 1954, in Pontiac, Michigan, Darrell lived a life marked by hard work, craftsmanship, loyalty, and deep devotion to family.

Darrell was the beloved son of Daniel Joseph Miller and Wanda Lorraine Miller, both of whom preceded him in death. Darrell spent his life in Michigan, building not only a career but a legacy of integrity.

On September 18, 1976, Darrell married the love of his life, Beverly Ann (Bolt) Miller, and together they shared over 50 years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Bev selflessly and lovingly cared for Darrell the past few years, at home, as his disease progressed. He spent his remaining days at Hospice House, surrounded by family, friends, and his amazing care staff.

Darrell worked in manufacturing and the automotive tool and die industry, where he was known for his precision, skill, and strong work ethic. A true builder at heart, he also founded Darrell Miller Construction, using his talent to build houses that still stand as a testament to his craftsmanship. He was involved in several professional and community organizations, including Business Networking International (BNI) and the Pontiac Elks, and was proudly connected with the International Unity of Royal Oak.

Darrell had a lifelong passion for classic and collector cars, enjoying restoration projects and drag racing, particularly at Northern Michigan Dragway. He loved music and attending concerts, and he took great pride in his extensive collection of records. His favorite artists were Grand Funk Railroad, Chicago and Jethro Tull.

Despite physical challenges, including living with a fused hip, Darrell faced life with resilience and determination.

Above all else, Darrell treasured his family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father to Angela (Tom) Simmonds, Michael R. Miller, and a proud and doting Papa to his grandchildren: Scarlete, Lila, Dane (Caelen) and Dawson (Ryley). Darrell was a cherished uncle to Michele Miller Simpson, Sheila Fredrick Miller, Michael Miller and Jody Miller.

Darrell was also preceded in death by several beloved family members, including his brothers Jack Miller, Joe Miller, his nephew Daniel Miller, and other cherished relatives.

Beloved friends, Rand Millard, Jerry Tate, Blair Miller, and Kernie Moore came to visit Darrell during his last days and shared memories of school, sports and, of course, cars.

Those who knew Darrell will remember him as a kind, steady presence—a wonderful Papa, husband, father, and friend—whose generosity, wisdom, and quiet strength touched many lives. He loved Don’s Drive-In, cupcakes, milk, Pepsi, Oreos, and Chips Ahoy. His legacy lives on through his family, his work, and the countless memories shared by those who loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of life is planned for May 17th at the Wood Creek Club House. More details to come.
