David Schultz, 78 of Torch Lake, MI passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 7, 2022 after a difficult battle with cancer. David was born on December 23, 1943 in Saginaw, MI He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Jennie (Ciaramitaro) Schultz; daughters, Tamara (Mike) DeBoer of McCall, ID and Shari (Jeff) Bailey of Freeland, MI; grandson, Nicholas (Rachel) Bailey; granddaughter, Lauren Bailey and great grandsons, Henry Bailey and David Bailey who is due in August 2022; and exchange student, Kenneth (Annicka) Davidsson of Tromso, Norway.
He was employed by Saginaw Grey Iron and retired on September 1, 1987. After retirement David went on to do all the things he loved. He was a ski instructor in Colorado, did procurement for a restaurant chain in Florida, worked for A-CMI in Michigan, and lastly a Plant Manager for Alcoa Automotive Castings in Farsund, Norway.
After all the excitement and travel they moved back to their home on Torch Lake, where they enjoyed boating, paddle boarding, and playing pickleball. Working on cars, making furniture in his woodshop, taking care of his beautiful lawn, and walking in the woods with the love of his life were things he looked forward to everyday. He loved making Maple Syrup and was a voracious reader always reading motivational books on positivity. Anyone that knew him knew he wore his heart on his sleeve and was so genuinely kind, always with an encouraging word and willing to help anyone. His laugh was so contagious!
He enjoyed family the most, building with his grandson, watching his granddaughter play hockey, and reading to his great grandson.
David leaves behind his brothers and sister, Rosemary (Bob) Stafford, Darold (Jeanne) Schultz, Timothy (Mary Ann) Schultz, sister-in-laws, Lori Schultz, Mary Kay Ciaramitaro, and brother-in-law, Pete Alfano and was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Georgianna (Wenzel) Schultz, brother, Ronald Schultz and sister, Crystal Patrick and infant sister, Janice Schultz; father and mother-in-law, Vito and Emma (Prezzato) Ciaramitaro, sister-in-law, Rosemary Alfano and brother-in-law, Fred Ciaramitaro.
To honor David’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
