Dawn Johnson

Dawn (Groesser) Johnson, age 56, was born in Frankfort, Michigan in February, 1962 to Theodore (Ted) and Ruby (Fall) Groesser. Dawn attended Elberta Elementary School and Frankfort High School. Dawn married Thomas Johnson in May, 1993. Together they had three children: Jeremiah, Logan and Johanna.

Dawn was committed to her faith, raising her children, and taking care of her family. Her family extended to the local TEACH homeschool group, drama groups and the TCBAA Bulldogs girls’ basketball team. She sewed countless costumes for dramatic presentations put on by the Homeschool Arts Project (The HAP) and productions presented by The Church of the Living God and New Hope Community Church.

Dawn ran a small sewing and alteration business, primarily for wedding and bridesmaid dresses. When Dawn wasn’t teaching or sewing or reading her Bible, she pursued outdoor interests like working in her vegetable and flower gardens along with raising chickens and turkeys. For recreation, Dawn enjoyed volleyball, swimming and cross-country skiing.

Dawn is survived by: her husband, Tom; sons Jeremiah Johnson and Logan Johnson; daughter, Johanna Johnson; father, Ted Groesser; and, brother, Jay Groesser.

Visitation will be held 2pm to 6pm Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Life Story Funeral Home, 400 Hammond Rd. W. Traverse City. Services will be held 11 am, Monday, November 5, 2018 at West Side Community Church. The family will greet friends starting at 10 am.
