Elizabeth N. Foley, 70, of Suttons Bay, MI was born in Detroit, MI on June 29, 1949 to John and Mae (Barko) Foley. Liz died November 21, 2019 at Munson Hospice House, Traverse City, MI.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband, David Boner, and her parents.

She is survived by her step-son, Dave (Cara) Ciancio, Rutherford, NJ and her grandson, Jack. Liz is also survived by her siblings, Anne (John) Colone, Chelsea, MI; Chris (Allen) Louks, Kalamazoo, MI; Mike (Karen) Foley, Eaton Rapids, MI; David Foley, Webberville, MI; Dan (Diane) Foley, Eaton Rapids, MI and Kathleen (David) Colburn, Delray Beach, FL. Liz had many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, numerous extended family members and friends.

Liz graduated from Cabrini High School, Allen Park, MI in 1967. She earned her bachelor and masters degrees in special education from Michigan State University. Her long career was spent teaching special needs children from birth to young adults in both Michigan and Florida. She especially loved her position as an “in hospital” teacher at Miami Children’s Hospital.

Liz enjoyed traveling, reading, winters in Florida, zumba, walking groups and yoga and the friends she made with each of those activities. She took many memorable trips with her MSU friends and enjoyed having lunch with the ‘Cabrini Girls’. In retirement, she volunteered for many different organizations including the Child Life Program at Munson Medical Center’s Pediatric unit and the Infusion Clinic.

A celebration of Liz’s life will be held January 18, 2020 at First Congregational Church, 121 E. Middle St., Chelsea, MI 48118. Family will greet friends and relatives at 11:00 a.m. Service at 12:00 with lunch following at the Church.
